It has been my privilege and pleasure to have worked with and to be continuing to work with Dr Bjorn Song on multiple projects utilizing a novel topical/transdermal formulation. Studies have included : i)treatment of LPS induced vascular dysfunction; ii) prophylaxis and treatment for diet induced type 2 diabetes; iii) systemic PK studies; iv) physiological responses; and most recently, iv) prevention and treatment of vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) in a rat based sickle cell model. In all of these studies, which extend back to 2021, I have consistently found Dr Song to be exceptionally knowledgeable, competent and interactive. He brings to the discussions insight and thoughtfulness that allows for productive discussion as to interpretations of results and experimental strategy. He is what I truly value as a collaborator. Argues in a coherent and thoughtful manner in support of his position and listens/responds appropriately to the opinions of others. As an experimentalist, he is first rate. His techniques and protocols are cutting edge. His analysis of data is thorough and compelling. He is also credible in terms of delivering milestones in a timely manner. I look forward to many more years of productive joint projects.
