As the former CEO and CSO of Prolong Pharmaceuticals, I have been involved with many contract research organizations over the decades, and Song Biotechnologies stands out among them all. Their understanding of HBOCs in vivo is unparalleled, and their unique microcirculatory and tissue oxygenation techniques complement the clinical metrics such as blood chemistry and hemodynamics, which has been very helpful in setting up clinical trials. Before Song Biotechnologies was established, Bjorn Song, PhD, the founder, helped us with a sickle cell transgenic mouse model in 2010, while he was at Medical College of Virginia. A few years later, he conducted a rat study for us, while being the principal investigator at the Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio. To date, the data collected has been presented at research, clinical and DoD conferences, and have resulted in four peer-reviewed manuscripts in “SHOCK”, “Military Medicine”, and “Artificial Cells, Nanomedicine, Biotechnology”.
